Hello! I’m a 28 year old former elementary school teacher originally from Arizona, with an artistic passion going back farther than I can remember! I taught myself Photoshop as a child, before I even had my first phone. My hobbies shifted towards photography and animation in my school years, and in community college I took graphic design (along with any other art courses I could get my hands on). Though I continued this art journey into my university career, ultimately I decided to choose a “safe” career path. While teaching the youth, seeing young minds develop, and working with other passionate educators provided me with amazing and unforgettable experiences, my heart was pulling me in another direction. While I was still on my teaching journey, I met my incredible best friend, and about five years ago we started a new journey into parenthood. While pregnant, I suffered from hyperemesis-gravidarum, which not only took away my working ability, but also left me bedridden for months. All I could think about was creating something colorful, to take my mind off the pain. Before my baby was even born, I realized that it was time for me to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a professional artist. From there, I opened my small art business doing local orders along with Etsy, and you may remember me as Kates Groovy Gallery. I have now begun my rebrand into my official art gallery. I now focus on my favorite mediums, which are acrylic paint and digital drawing. There are exciting things in the works, including my own art classes for local homeschoolers in my community. It has been a wild journey, and sometimes not an easy one- but making that career change as my life headed towards motherhood was one of my greatest decisions! ♡
